Excuses are Nice as a Lazy Blogger!

Are you a lazy blogger? Please don’t take it as an offense though. Laziness is everywhere especially those of us who didn’t enjoy doing our homework whiles in school. Hahaha!

Please madam, can you punish me for something I didn’t do? That was the question a fellow student wanted to know from his teacher. Obviously, I can’t punish you for something you didn’t do was the reply from his madam. Then madam, please I did not do my homework. Hahaha!

Today is Wednesday and it is one of those days I have  to write a post as a blogger. But I don’t feel like writing and the excuse which keeps popping up in my head is like that of this guy with his teacher. Come on, check it out.

The following conversation ensued between Johnny and his teacher:

Teacher: Why didn’t you study?

Little Johnny: A year has 365 days for you to study. After taking away 52 Sundays, there are only 313 days left.

There are 50 days in the summer that is way too hot to work so there are only 263 days left. We sleep 8 hours a day, in a year, that counts up to 122 days so now we’re left with 141 days.
If we fooled around for only 1 hour a day, 15 days are gone, so we are left with 126 days.
We spend 2 hours eating each day, 30 days are used in this way in the year, and we are left with 96 days in our year.

We spend 1 hour a day speaking to friends and family, that takes away 15 days more and we are left with 81 days. Exams and tests take up at least 35 days in your year; hence you are only left with 46 days.

Taking off approximately 40 days of holidays, you are only left with 6 days. Say you are sick for a minimum of 3 days; you’re left with 3 days in the year to study! Let’s say you only go out for 2 days…You’re left with 1 day. But that 1 day is your birthday.
That’s why I did not study, sir.

Hahahaha! That is indeed laziness at best and an interesting excuse. How do you tackle your laziness as a blogger? When was the last time you wrote? And what was the quality?

Blogging is one thing where you aren’t accountable to anyone other than yourself. You feel under no pressure to produce as there isn’t any time limit to face but bear in mind that what you are likely to loose as a blogger are your cherished readers. That is of course really costly.

How do you overcome Laziness in Blogging?

Mind you, I am not here  to suggest any supernatural remedies for your laziness as a blogger but just here to speak my mind to you. Airing my view is what I am here to do.

The first point which readily comes in mind as remedy is reading related post in your niche. Do you know how many ideas you’re likely to gather just by reading your competitor’s posts?

Not just reading related post but reading everything that interest you as well. This post of mine by entitled ‘5 million Reasons to be a blogger” is an idea I pitched from a magazine about one man coming across 5 million dollars as an inheritance and the magazine gave a bold header ‘5 million Million Reasons to Smile’

So you see, I don’t conjure magic with my headlines but simply pitches ideas from elsewhere. That is my secret! Hahaha! At least this post has pushed me to reveal to you that Reading is all that matters!

Another point is to try as much as possible to feel relaxed. Do you know how many times I have received this, ‘You’re an excellent writer” . Mr Khanal prefers to call the jolly-writer even though I am yet to find out who a jolly-writer is.

Such complements of course brings in some sort of pressure on you the blogger but the easiest way of not feel complacent and do things in a normal is to feel relaxed. As I usually say, ‘Please be yourself’.

Your Turn

Excuses are indeed nice as a blogger but bare in mind your readers are all that matters. The excuse for not writing that post which intend writing is baseless. Just tie yourself down and do it!

Sorry this section is for your comment and mine. Your comments are welcomed. Just feel free and say what is on your mind below. Mind you, don’t be lazy!

  1. HI Emmanuel

Laziness is one of many bloggers enemy. It takes discipline. It is good to get things done at the right time even though you don’t feel like.

How Much time you r Giving Daily For blogging ?

  3. Little johnny is a sharp guy and his sharpness will continue to give his laziness a good chance.

This happens to me several time.

But i believe if a person can stop critic (critic is a silent voice that whispers anytime you prepared to do something new and comes up with the word: go and catch some fun with your mates outside, you can do this another time) from whispering, s/he will achieve anything s/he’s ready to achieve.

    Another lesson learned!

  4. Laziness is the first quality to a failed blogger and when you cant keep up to your tasks your blog will die with it. prioritizing my tasks,is a way to keep myself in shape and ensure i dont have unattended tasks.

  5. Hello Emmanuel,

No blogger can deny that there hasn’t been anytime in their career when laziness has taken center stage. To make laziness is cool and makes you reflect on your life and journey. They are couple of times when I am lazy and I can’t just write. If I do, I will publish a complete trash, what do I do?

I just go to my TV and turn on the gaming console.. Playing games re-activate my mind and suddenly I get an idea..

So laziness works in two ways like every other aspect of lives. One is positive and the other is negative, it is always advisable to take the positives out of the negative.

Thanks for the lovely article friend 🙂

  6. Hi Emmanuel,

  7. Time calculation is very good, Bloggers are lazy because no boss of your head. I last few days; I earned good amount through blogging and then never writing any post within one month.. but after one month I got result.. My blog traffic goes down.. and down…

Therefore we need to put our AIM in-front of our eyes and start working…

Really Laziness is one of the main enemy of bloggers..

    1. That is the point bro. Having an AIM and working towards it, is all that matters.

      Thanks for your comment bro.

  8. We laziness strike we need to remember to our goal. It’s quite common to get lazy but once we give a chance to it to happen we will ruin. Laziness is a good test to see how serious we are with our business.

  9. Laziness….Really biggest enemy in one’s life either a blogger or a normal person. Being, a blogger it is necessary to fix a schedule and blog according to that, so that you are up to date with your blog and do not get back in this competitive world.

Thanks for drawing the attention to laziness and giving a sign to be aware about it. Have a nice weekend Kabenlah 🙂

  10. Hey Emmanuel,

I have had my own share of laziness (frankly, I find them useful. Laziness motivates us to take breaks from our breaks).

The only problem is when laziness is not controlled. I believe that every “negative” aspect of life (or so called negative aspect) from laziness to impatience to pessimism can be used for good – for achieving our goals. The only challenge is that we need to tame them; we need to gain control 😀

Right now, I use various methods to confront my laziness – first and foremost being my own mind 😉 I could say that I have trained my mind to not be lazy. I could be lazy, but over time, I will get tired of being lazy. I will start feeling guilt and regret of not taking action, and those two by themselves are good enough of a motivator (at least for me) to take action 😀

Anyways, thank you for sharing this, Emmanuel 🙂 Appreciate the post. Hope you are having a good week!

  11. I really envy your wit Cudjoe. You are master in mixing spices to your post. What a sweet joke:

“Please madam, can you punish me for something I didn’t do? That was the question a fellow student wanted to know from his teacher. Obviously, I can’t punish you for something you didn’t do was the reply from his madam. Then madam, please I did not do my homework. ”

Shared it in my networks as well!

  13. Wow, I love this article. Lazy people always have excuses to make and the funniest thing is that despite all the excuses they make, the don’t still get the work done and so profit is usually less. Thanks for sharing this great story.
