Where are all the Bloggers?

Where are the bloggers? Am I the only person observing this or what? The reason for this post has to deal with the fact the blogging world seem to see a general decline in activity. Most blogs aren’t updating anymore and the trend seems to cut across the board. Haven’t you notice that? Or maybe it appears I am the only stranger in Bethlehem?
Hahaha! Somewhere 2013, I ventured into blogging and the rate and enthusiasm one reaslised in the blogosphere was really high. The same time last year saw  lots of new faces in the blogosphere with great insights being shared on every blog but this year is different and I don’t understand why.

Reputable blogs are hardly updating and new bloggers are rarely found these days. I have a tradition of visiting lot of blogs within a day but it appears they aren’t writing and the question which pops up now is, why aren’t they updating? With some, it has being over 2 weeks since they last had an update whiles others haven’t done that for more than a month.

Let me ask again, where are all the bloggers?I have a also seen a great  fall in Alexa rankings in many blogs as well mine. I have it installed on my browser and the rate at which the falls are occurring leaves a lot to think home about. My alexa is falling as well and this of course is due to the fact of lots of in-activities going on in this blogosphere.

Are things going to take on new dimensions or stay like that? Things staying as it is will obviously see the end of Blogging of lots of blogs who blog in blogging.

That is my observation. Unlike Professor Little Johnny’s students who weren’t observant. This was what happen in his class some time back.

First year medical students were attending their very first anatomy class. They all gathered around the table which had a real dead body on it. The Professor, Little Johnny, started the class by telling them two important qualities of a doctor. “The first is that never be disgusted about anything in the body. For example”,

He inserted his finger in the dead body’s anus, put his finger in his own mouth and tasted it. Then he told the students to do what he did. The students hesitated for several minutes, but eventually everyone inserted their fingers in the body’s anus and tasted it.

When everyone finished tasting their fingers, the professor looked at them and said, “The most important Second quality is Observation. I inserted my MIDDLE finger but tasted my other finger. Now learn to pay attention!!”

Hahaha! I have observed and of course learnt to pay attention. And there is of course no doubt the blogging world is dwindling.

Your Turn.

Have you observed some inactiveness in the blogosphere as well? What do you is account for this? Let the world hear tour take on it by commenting below.

1st year medical students were attending their 1st anatomy class. They all gathered around the table and there was a real dead body on the table.
Akpos, the professor started the class by telling them two important qualities of a DOCTOR.
The 1st is that never be DISGUSTED about anything in the body for example, he inserted his FINGER in the deadbody’s ANUS and put the finger in his own mouth and TASTED it.
Then he told the students to do what he did.
The students hesitated for several minutes, but eventually everyone inserted their fingers in the body’s ANUS and tasted it.
When everyone finished tasting their fingers, they were all Frowning… Then  Professor Akpos looked at them and said:
The most important 2nd quality is Observation. I inserted my MIDDLE finger but tasted the 2ND finger….Now learn to pay attention!!

  1. This is not an over-the-top question Emmanuel, the reality is that every blogger is asking the same question but neither of them is willing to have more activity in their blogs.

For me, I believe this is a new year and most bloggers would thinking about re-evaluating their blogs. Some have written all the tutorials that is to be written and many experiencing writer’s block after the celebration.

Obviously, a blogger who didn’t get result commensurate with his effort last year, will naturally have a loss of drive. These things take time to re-ignite.

But you are still here and updating, that’s enough activity that the blogosphere is indeed well and alive. Although, you have been scaring us with the sale of your blog and all that, but some bloggers can still be thinking like you, probably in the final stages of signing the documents, that’s why they are no updating.. Hahaha! Have a nice day buddy..

    1. Hahaha! Do have a nice day as well. I am not going to quit blogging anytime soon. Kabenlah is my name and I have to make it really bigger.

    2. Nosa, that response could just be straight out of my mouth! When you are working without any outward sign of reward (except maybe some spam comments), you’d naturally think of giving up. This is exactly the state of the blogosphere…too many bloggers with too many unrealistic expectations!

      Always,
      Terungwa

      1. Hello Terungwa, that’s it, unrealistic expectations. Most bloggers have set goals without a plan, at times there is a plan, but the plan doesn’t work and the goal becomes futile, then frustrations finds a home.

It happens to everyone, but I believe they will all come back soon.

    3. I think the problem with us is that we are expecting too much and that is why we always get irritated and even planning for quitting blogging

  2. Seriously, I have wondered without end. Whatever happened to everyone? You know, when I started actively blogging last year (Yes, I have a few inactive ones. Even, one is completely dead!), I noticed the enthusiasm, However, most people don’t blog for the passion. They had been brainwashed that there is this goldmine where you just type and earn. How mistaken could they be! Anyway, enthusiasm die for different reasons, and we have all been there (or at least, near there.) By the way, I would keep an eye open for your blog. Speaks to me. Might be one of the type I am looking out for. Yes, I am not a hypocrite. So, look out for mine too. Or else, I would leave Nigeria, find you in Ghana, and kick the hell out of your ass. Nice meeting you, brother.

    1. Hahaha! Before kicking his ass, always know that he’s got a brother in Nigeria who won’t let that happen.

Welcome to Kabenlah buddy, lol.. I shouldn’t be doing this, I mean I don’t and it’s the first time I am doing it, but I always feel at home when I am here and I very confident you too will get same feeling. Enjoy the rest of the day friend..

    2. Hahaha! a beg ooo! I think I shouldn’t be doing the begging anymore since my brother Nosa has already warned you as well. HAHAHA!

I like your comment and what you said with regards to enthusiasm. That is something that is easily lost as you rightly put it.

Thanks for your comment and let Fantafab know I will be there in no time.

  3. I know where they are. Some are with their family making plans for this year, while others are tired of purchasing data bundle. For am out here loosing all the passions why? because blogging isn’t paying as i read on some broke blogs.

Many who came for money like me are fading away like Nosa some are rebranding. Bunch of others are too busy offline, you know bloggers are security agents they watch nights online all night so, the busy once just don’t give a craft.

68% are looking for new posts hahah.Beaware !! i got 40000 leaves of tech post coming soon.
    To be continued….

    1. It is really amazing how well you know where all the bloggers are and what they are doing. hahaha!

I am on guard now and can’t wait to read your 4k worded post.

  4. What can i say…. Many a tied up with some family or business issue….

Few have lost their passion, especially the newbies.

Most pro-bloggers do lack content to post…

Everyone is with one excuse or the other…. Lets just see how the blogosphere goes with its activity this year 😉

  5. Yes, bro. Thanks for the reply. By the way, If ass-kicking comes down to it. At least, it is a honour to be kicked by a noble blogger. Seriously, this days I get tired of the rubbish many post on blogs. It is so clear many are not ready to use their brains at all. I have been watching out for true Nigerian bloggers. Sadly, they are not much. Seeing Kabenlah, I think I should expand my search to the whole of Africa. By true bloggers, I mean bloggers with their voices behind their blogs, and not some robotic copy and paste thing. Nosa, I told you on Facebook that we need to talk. Cudjoe, I would search for you soon too. I have been thinking about stuff a lot. I know you all have too.

    1. There is of course no doubt that Nosa is one of the finest and greatest bloggers this blogosphere has ever seen therefore kicking your ass will be an honour.

  6. that is strange. i am opposite of them. this year i am very active despite my freelance writing career. i make sure that i post at least 5 articles a week..

  7. There was at a point i feel like, is this man talking to me indirectly, but i tried to tell myself its just a blog post..

you are absolutely right, the number of people that register new blogger account have seriously reduced, am still trying to find out what is the major cause of that, not until i noticed that even the so called pro- blogger blogs are losing rank also..

I admit Bad me also, i don’t post on my blog like i used to before and that’s what because of the over schedule work am currently during, its just a matter of time and the road will be clear..

    1. Hahaha! I guess this man was talking to you. Many are of course time constraints and that is of course accounting for lots of inactiveness in this blogosphere.

  8. Personally, I only blog because I can’t imagine how much time one would spend on the computer doing all of the above.
I think people generally have less time to devote because of things like Pinterest and Facebook.

I have my own blog but I’ve been stuck at just over 100 followers for ages. I don’t know what is going on but I too wish there were more bloggers with great content out there. I am still at a loss as to how to make money from blogging. Sure would be nice!

In the blogging world there are many competing. Whatever happened to everyone? You know, when I started actively blogging last year 2013. It was easy getting data package but the network was very slow. I didn’t complain because it was cheap.

  9. This is really a great notice. Anyway, I agree with Nosa, that most don’t know what to write on, people can’t really think and so their blog remains un-updated.

Some don’t have time to blog also, and some no specific blogging schedule.

Well I’m different, you can check out my blog and probably learn from it. I blog once in a week because of my present challenge, but I make sure i blog every week because I believe that people wants information from my blog, so i must not disappoint.

    1. Hi Miracle,
It is really great that you’re maintaining your consistency by making sure you write at least once a week.

That is great and do keep it up but I do hope with time, you’re going to increase it to three times a week.

  10. I’m still here! This is my second blog site. The first site was dedicated to making money blogging. I did that for 1 1/2 years. I didn’t make much money. So, I let that blog go, and the one I write on now is 3 months old now. I am now writing for fun, as a fun way to spend time. If I make any money from that, excellent. If not, I’m still having fun. Come by and say hello! 🙂

  11. This is awesome post.Personally, I only blog because I can’t imagine how much time one would spend on the computer doing all of the above.
I think people generally have less time to devote because of things like P interest and Facebook.

I have my own blog but I’ve been stuck at just over 100 followers for ages. I don’t know what is going on but I too wish there were more bloggers with great content out there. I am still at a loss as to how to make money from blogging.

    1. Hi Jousei,
Thanks for sharing your experience with us here. With respect to making money online boils down to once own experience.

  12. Emmy,

Not here brother 😉 I am posting 5 or more times daily. But heck yeah, I have seen it. Many folks are simply inactive, and miss out on traffic, and sales, and all that good blogging stuff.

    Thanks for the share!

  13. Maybe the blogosphere has been dry but not on Kingged.com, there is a great giveaway on Kingged.com and it seems like everyone is over there now. A lot is happening over there and i have won over $135 so far in the giveaway.

So if you are looking for some activities head over to kingged.com and earn money for just blog commenting just as i am doing here right now.

I found this article on Kingged.com and also left a comment on it.

    1. The world is definitely at Kingged.com! You would have found me there as well but I am battling really poor internet services here.

      But surely,Kingged is a massive!

  14. Hello Emmanuel,

Blogging isn’t easy, I must be frank. Monetization too is a hell lot more difficult these days as all the traditional channels simply pay peanuts! The persons who are updating very frequently are either those who have found a way around the monetization bottleneck or are damn passionate (and can never run out of ideas). This is a motivation game, you’ll have to accept.

Good observation I must also concur. But have you also observed that I update very frequently?

    Always,
    Terungwa

    1. You’re the boss and of course no to poverty is what you have your mind on. There is no doubt you’re doing a great job in this blogophere as well.

      Thanks for your comment bro!

  15. Hi Emmanuel,
I have really thought of what you said but i also think it is wise to update once a week as long as the article has great value and content than update trash 5 times a day and get no visit as well as bore your readers. As for me i blog according to inspiration also considering the fact that i have blogs in other niches to update as well. Anyway i still visit blogs with great contents and see what is of value they have to share. Anyway most newbies enter into blogging without passion for it, they focus on money and when they are not seeing it, the rate at which they blog reduce.

    Nice piece

  16. Very funny on professor Little Johnny and his students. I can only imagine how the students felt afterwards!

Now to the subject of discussion. Its interesting that you gave yourself the time to observe the dwindling trend of bloggers. I bet if there are many bloggers out there who has such time.

However, an interesting observation has been made and if this trend is anything to go by, then it simply means that bloggers has chosen to do things in another way! 😉

    thanks bro

    1. No their will be Small Decline in the No. of postst during the time of march and April as there as Exams for Most of the Bloggers, as most of the Bloggers are students

  18. I loved your article & became your fan after reading it.I’m also an article writer but stopped writing for some readers or you can say abusers.I’m not scarred of negative reviews as it’s part & parcel of our job.But some people get too much personal which makes me upset.
But I’ve made my mind & from now I will again start because it’s my passion and for some idiots I won’t stop.

  19. Hi Emmanuel,

I agree that it seems some bloggers are scarce but I also believe you have to go and find bloggers that you are interested in their content.

Build it and they will come, only works in the movies.

    Have a great day. Monna

    1. Hahaha! yes, that fallacy of build it they will come obviously works in the movies.

Thanks for your comment and do have a nice day as well.

  20. I would say nothing happened – then again, without real data, I can’t say much.

But, I have experienced this sort of thing before. Then I realized the problem was with me (well, it isn’t particularly a problem).

As we become more experienced with blogging, we tend to stick within our circles (so bloggers who are similar to us….in general, our exposure to new bloggers is vastly reduced, since we know where to go – which blogs to check out, which blogs to comment on and so forth – we are in a better position that we are, when we started out).

Take for instance: As far as I am concerned, new bloggers are virtually non existent – I don’t seem many of them very often (Just here and there). Most of the bloggers I know and interact are people who know their stuff – like you 🙂

Perhaps this is the case for you..or maybe not 😉 Like I mentioned, without real data, I can’t say much.

    1. I like the dimension you took this. Many of course tend to maintain their main core of bloggers like with you as well in mind every day.

Thanks as well for your comment as well. Do have a nice day.

  21. Hi Emmanuel,

A great question here. But first thanks for making me have a good laugh! 🙂 I was already laughing knowing the spirit of the post but I couldn’t hold myself back when I read the story about Professor Little Johnny and his students.

Now, I must say I actually expected this a long time ago. In fact, in most of my posts last year, I was calling on many of the bloggers following my blog to reevaluate their blogging motive and tactics. I was doing this because I observed back in 2012 some very disturbing blogging statistics. What you have just observed and what others have mentioned in their comments are therefore not strange to me.

The only thing actually is to reevaluate the purpose for blogging and then learn what it takes to really succeed whatever direction you decide to take.

    Thanks for sharing.

    1. wow! I do like the point you raised with regards re-evaluations. I guess that is the main reason we can’t find the bloggers anymore.

      Thanks for your comment bro.

  22. Hi Emmanuel, I’m glad you’ve brought this topic up and yes I have also noticed a dropping trend in bloggers updating their blogs or making a significant appearance in the blogsphere.

Throughout 2012 and 13 I connected with many bloggers, even subscribed to their email updates, only to find more and more of them not making an effort to update their blogs as regularly as they once were.

I guess as most people are saying here many bloggers are taking a step back and assessing their efforts and identifying their true purpose for blogging, especially after so many changes and how the blogging landscape has changed over the last two years.

I have been doing a lot of assessing myself but have every intention of staying loyal to blogging and serving my audience, and the great bloggers I’ve connected with in the blogosphere over the years.

Thanks for sharing, have a great day mate 🙂

  23. That was really good and you literally made me smile. But if i see to my team and myself we are updating our blog more and more this year. i can say we are active. nicely written article by the way.

    1. Kudos to you and your team! Keep up with the good work you’re doing. Thanks for your comment and do have a great day.

  24. Hello Emmanuel,
The only reasons a blogger would stop posting frequently as he used to is; His offline job is taken too much of his time or the expectation he has about blogging has died 🙂

  25. Hi Emmannuel,

Well I feel that this problem is due to LACK OF PASSION and HUNGER FOR MONEY.

Most of the new bloggers get into this world thinking that they can generate some easy cash outta it but they lack complete knowledge about it.

I started my blog recently and I’m posting on regular basis as it has now become my passion rather than hunger. I even removed my adsense from it as my top priority is to build something big..

Thanks for this great post. I wonder why such ideas for posts don’t come in my mind. Might be lack of experience 🙂 😉

    Thanks.

  26. I think the problem with us is that we are expecting too much and that is why we always get irritated and even planning for quitting blogging. Thank you 🙂

    John recently posted……fat burning foods

  27. OMG! That was gross! Huhu! I feel like crying. That Little Johnny is so yucky and the students should pay attention to their professor! Hahaha! That was so disgusting! LOL!

On the other hand Emmanuel, I have observed some bloggers/blogging sites that haven’t posted an article for a week or two. I do not have an idea why they are inactive. But some shares why after a week or a month.

I have shared this comment in the content syndication and social bookmarking and networking website for Internet marketers – kingged.com where this post was found.

  28. hi Emmanuel
Great article. Thanks for your great information, the content is quiet interesting. I will be waiting for your next post.

  29. Hi Emmanuel,
    Good observation!!!
But I can’t fully agree to that!
In my observation that almost all
bloggers are here, and here to stay 🙂
The comments you bagged here itself is
a living example to my statement here!! 🙂
Ha Ha, of course different people different observations!!! Right?
Anyways, People like you and me are here to stay again a LOL 🙂
Do don’t worry your readers too are here! some times they may not
comment back, that doesn’t mean that all are gone!!
    No!! A BIG NO!!!
The illustration given at the bottom is really an embarrassing one!!!
I too received this msg the other day in my whatApp box, here to the
observation made a great difference Very funny is n’t it Emmanuel
I am here now with my new page! Have a look at it and post your suggestion
    Best Regards
    Phil

    1. Hello Okaztle,
You are right, We don’t know about our blogging future. but if we work hard and honestly we can expect good views of our future blogging. We should think good about blogging. and in this way we can get our goal.

      Thanks for commenting here
      Areesha Noor!

  30. Hello Emmanuel,

Actually the problem is that. In begging, Most of newbie have great passion about blogging. But with the passage of time, they have lack of time for blogging. because of this they could not achieve their goal and go away from here. they think blogging is just fun.

Blogging is name of hard work gradually. it is long process work. it not just fun. You can get your goal after a long time. they want to become rich in blogging in a day or week. but this is impossible.

Any way thanks for sharing your thought with us
    Areesha Noor!

  31. I have observed many inactiveness in the blogosphere. One of my friend, his Alexa rank dropped from 46,000 to 124,498. Inactiveness occurred with me too. I left blogging from this month only. You are right, We don’t know about our blogging future. Thanks for this Great content.
