Why Ipage Hosting will always Beat Hostgator, Bluehost and Arvixe Combined!

When it comes to living the online dream as a blogger or an online entrepreneur, you can’t do away with hosting. Going in for the right host is halfway to success. Poor hosting from my end caused me my first blog which was really doing great in the blogosphere.

There seem to be a lot of hullabaloos about hosting and which one surpasses the other but are these noises about these major hosting companies worth the hype? I sincerely don’t think so.

Hostgator and Bluehost and to some extent Arvixe seem to be the people’s favourite but with all due respect these hosting companies are of course not worth those hype.

Experiencing major downtime is evitable from Hostagator. It appears that is what they fancy the most as means of promoting themselves to others as well.

Imagine visiting a blog for your usual insight and being hit with this;

An interesting thing is that you are  guaranteed a 20% discount if you purchase from their 403 error. Is that not madness? Is this a deliberate attempt from them to show 403 forbidden page. I was experiencing these things a lot until I moved to Arvixe!

The least said this Arvixe hosting the better. They have all sorts of ads telling the entire world why how cheap they are. $4 is what is boldly displayed but in reality one will be paying for $60 for a year so in reality one will be paying$5 a month.

The money aspect isn’t of course the problem but their downtimes is what leaves a lot of doubt. Whiles on Hostgator, my poetry blog was with them but obviously regretted it.

There are of course several blogs using either Bluehost, Hostgator or Arvixe but the rate at which they are broken down is worrisome.  I have more than 70 blogs with links broken on my blog.

I had no option than to unlink most of them. This of course was no fault of theirs but instead the hosting they were using.

That is why I will recommend ipage web hosting. The best one could get on the market. My poetry had being on ipage for more than 2 months now and had experienced no downtime this of course convinced me to move kabenlah.com to it early this month and the experience from them had being really great. No downtime from them and it’s the best money can buy.

Support from their end is really great also and the best price you can get from the. Imagine paying less than $2 for the next two years for a hosting package which will no means fu*k you up.

Ipage is what I use and it is what I recommend for you as well. Don’t forget I have some free Google Adwords and Facebook Ads Credit to use for free all in the name of Ipage. What I love most from them is their quick support 24/7!

Your Turn

Which hosting are you using and what has being your experience with them?

  1. Hi Kabenlah,

I must say that you have come up with a serious issue. Well I’m still into blogger platform so no worries for me 🙂 But I’m thinking of migration so this post will be helpful to me. I will use your iPage Affiliate link if I buy their hosting.

    Thanks for thais post 🙂

    1. You are on blogger? I never knew! Please be very careful and always remember to keep on backing up your blog as you can’t tell the day you will be blocked.

I will be very much grateful if you use my affiliate link as well.

      1. Yes I’m on blogger. I backup the whole blog regularly.

Hosting is a bit costly for me. I’m looking for some shared hosting with any of my friend. 🙂

        Thanks

        1. Ipage has again reduced their hosting prices once more again. I think the offer will end in 2 days time.

It will be prudent if you give it a try!

  2. Hi Emma, 🙂

Though I dnt know much about this hosting stuff but I have got a good part about arrivx. 🙂

Seems like from your say, Ipage hosting seems better 🙂
Well, would soon be moving to WP, and I would try give it a hit 🙂

Thanks for the share anyway 🙂

  3. Hello Kabie..

I understand your frustration and I can still recall how sad you were after recommending Arvixe tto you, which now looks to developed some problems for itself. You are not the only one who complained, my friend lost his entire portal on Arvixe and funny enough there was no backup because the server crashed entirely. A third person I recommended also dumped them after 2 weeks. I am still thinking though, I have no major issue with them, authough the downtime is crazy and I will stick with them for a while before making a permanent decision. You called it iPage right? 🙂

  4. Emmanuel, you made a very great point. I have been using ipage hosting platform for my ideas and they are really trying, their support is just to good. Thanks for sharing

  5. I understand how you feel Emmanuel, ipage is really doing great. I host all my ideas on their platform and will continue to do.

Their contact support is really nice.

  6. Hi Emmanuel,

Man, I’ve been using Hostgator for quite some time now. And wait, not only have I been using it, but I’ve been recommending it to many folks.

There are many people out there, who have purchased Hostgator upon my advice. But, as of now, there has been no serious issue bro.

Ya, agreed that there are those odd down time and maintenance down time etc. But barring that, it has been a good ride with HG so far for me and those others, about who I described.

Regarding Blue Host, Arvixe and I page, I haven’t tried any of them. But is is good to know about them based on your experience.

I found link to this post on Kingged.com.

    1. Hi Arun,

It is really great you have had a smooth sail with HG now. I never did and I obviously do hope it continues working smoothly for you!

  7. Hello,

Well I haven’t tried Ipage but tried hostgator and bluehost. Though I feel we could face downtime issues in any hosts as most of the hosting companies are a group of hostgator.

    Thanks

      1. Seems like the offer is already over, but I missed 🙁

I was very busy in academic stuff so that’s the reason. I’d love to know if there are any similar offer running for web hosting.

        Thanks

  8. I have tried ipage hosting. Yes I completely agree that Ipage is better, because its cheap and services are really amazing. It can take loads of traffic and also It offers loads of freebies like google adwords n stuffs

personally I loved it and Thanks for giving sucha good review

      1. Hi Kabenlah, But most hosting company promise Adwords credit but i discover most of the credit is not available for clients living outside US.

You mean iPage adwords credit is meant for all client no matter where you live?

        1. I just redeemed my Facebook Ads worth $50 right now to promote my affiliate store site and with respect to Adwords, you will have to use spend $25 but the $100 Adwords coupon will be emailed to you irrespective of where you find yourself.

    1. You ought to! There is an exceptional promotion going on today and I think it will end in 2 days time.

      So just it out!

  9. Hello Emmanuel,

I have used all the hosting services mentioned by you except iPage. Hostgator is pure trash and a complete hype while Arvixe is currently the best amongst the options.

I think it’s a great time to try out iPage. The price and your personal guarantee seem luring enough.

    Always,
    Terungwa

      1. I am very willing to give it a try…I’ll either migrate one of my sites to iPage or when I launch a new site, I’ll host it over there.

        Do have a great day.

        Always,
        Terungwa

  10. I never used Ipage hosting in my life. I used HostGotor and found it quite reliable and good. Would like to try ipage someday.

  11. Thanks for this article Kabenlah, The bitter fact is no hosting company services is reliable. They all promise 99% donwtime but we end up experiencing downtime every 30mins. It is cool sharing your experience with different hosting company. I just moved my blog to arvixe and am even thinking of changing hosting very soon cos of downtime, i do experience downtime atleast once in 30mins and their support is slow.

Maybe i will also try out iPage.

  12. Hi Emmanuel Kabenlah Cudjoe
I had always used Hostgator but sometimes its shows error 403.In future i would also like to try Ipage .From your article it seems to be good.
    Thanks for sharing.

  13. Having the best hosting company out there is key. I have heard horror stories of the ones you mentioned. I have have never heard of Ipage. My website is so massive that I have a dedicated server and yes I pay alot for my hosting company. My site never goes down.

    1. Hello Madam Arleen,

It is really great going in for dedicated servers. I think it will be prudent to try out Ipage as well.

  14. Hi Emmanuel,

In the market of web hosting providers Hostgator and Bluehost both have their specific place but iPage is provided better service at low price. I have founded iPage web hosting affordable for beginners. 2 Days ago Blue host, Justhost and Hostgator were having problem and all the websites hosting at this web hosting had great loss.

After this incident I am totally in favor of your post. You have explained about iPage correctly. No one wants to host his/her blog at the server which faces problem again and again. This is second time these web hosting are facing down streams.
    Thanks for the post.

    ~Ravi

    1. Hi Ravi,

The rate at which these web hosting face down times are really alarming and this of course makes Ipage tops them all.

  15. Thank you for the recommendation, Emmanuel 🙂

I am satisfied with my current provider, but I do face down times every now and then (almost all of them are 2-4 minutes, which doesn’t matter much, since my blog is still new).

But, I don’t want to take any unnecessary risk; I have had few situations in which the downtime lasted for more than hour.

So, switching is the best option (I am planning to switch later this year, once the current plan expires).

I am looking for other options; still exploring. The one year break I took from blogging seems to have changed a lot of things (good web hosts like Hostgator getting more and more bad reviews, and users experiences more problems), so I am still looking for more options.

I do know ipage…I will definitely keep them on my list 🙂 Thanks for the recommendation!

Happy Easter, by the way. Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

  16. Hi,

You have explained this topic in a good way but I want to ask you something which doesn’t belong to this topic. May I know why people don’t want to index their sitemap in any search engine? What Is the reason behind it? I have searched at many blogs but didn’t get the answer. I hope you can tell me.
I will wait for your reply.
    Rakesh

  17. Hi Emmanuel,

Thank you so much for doing this great overview on IPage. I had Hostgator in the past and it was a nightmare! It was great in the beginning, but I got so frustrated with them that I turned to a self hosted company.

I’m sure IPage will beat Hostgator any day!

  18. Hi Emmanuel, I use both Amazon Web Services for one large site that I have and also Hostgator for a number of smaller sites. Amazon Web Services is excellent in terms of service delivery and the visitor experience (speed, reliability etc) and it’s elastic limits ensure that there is always enough bandwidth and so on to optimise performance. The down side is I find it very complicated and often have to rely on a server admin to make changes. So far I’ve had a reasonable experience with Hostgator, although I did get some downtime last week (packet loss they said, although it coincided with a notice indicating that they were updating cPanel on their servers – surely a routine update of cPanel couldn’t have been responsible for 6 hours of downtime?) – the comments on here are giving me food for thought though – if I experience similar downtime issues again, it may be time to stop recommening Hostgator as a good “budget” option.

  19. Hi Emmanuel,

I certainly will agree with you on HostGator. We once had over 80 clients at HostGator and recently pulled the last one out, for the reason you mentioned… constant downtime. As with many companies, they provided great service when they were young and hungry. More recently, they would rather fight with us in tickets and chat sessions for hours than fix the problems and provide the hosting service we were paying for.

We won’t set up clients on cheap shared hosting any more. I don’t think any of the solutions you mention would make the grade. (I discussed hosting in today’s post.)

To me, good hosting is the kind you forget about for an entire year, until the next invoice arrives. You don’t know how good their support is, because you’ve never had to use it. 🙂

  20. Hostgator is really worse thing i have ever seen because if i have more than 8-10k Visitors online it shows Error..More frustrated

  21. Hi Emmanuel Kabenlah Cudjoe
I’m in Blogger Platform. I think I need to migrate to WordPress as soon as possible. As you told to Iftekhar Ahmed that anytime Google may Block the site, I’m in tension. I never backed up my Blog before. But from now, every day I will. Thanks for the info 🙂
